Work Performance Questionnaire

Recent global research on effective autism employment practices identified that autistic employees prefer to receive regular feedback on their job performance and having only one main person to report to.

The Work Performance Questionnaire (WPQ) is a tool that can be used to provide feedback on work performance. The WPQ is a set of generic questions to assess work performance and behaviour within the work environment. It helps initiate conversations around recognising good performance, identifying any areas for development and setting goals for growth.

The autistic employee AND their supervisor complete a form each and responses are compared. Comparing the completed questionnaires provides an opportunity to have a two-way conversation about work performance.

The WPQ has been used across a number of organisations for several years with positive outcomes. It has been designed to create a safe discussion space for employer and employee. It provides predictability for an autistic employee as they can prepare for the meeting, providing their self-assessment and workplace examples on the form.
